![]() ![]() ![]() That’s it :) The white lines all around the gif should have disappeared. The solution to this is very simple! Click on Filter blending options, and set the mode to Dissolve. You may have noticed, often after sharpening a gif, or simply by reducing the size of it, a white border appears. (don’t pay attention to the black area, it’s some new features of the Smart Sharpen of the recent PS that I don’t use). My settings are up ^ You can play with them, but don’t put the radius above 0,4 px. Now select the first layer (under the one we just applied the Blur on). Lower the opacity of the blurred layer to a value between 20 and 50. This is my setting, you can choose yours as you like. Select the top Layer (the Layer with “copy”) and Go to Filter, Blur, Gaussian Blur. Now duplicate this Layer (Layer, Duplicate Layer or simply Ctrl+J). All your Layers (on the right) will be combined into one single Layer. Go directly to Filter, Convert for Smart Filters. Don’t panick and look for it, it should be there somewhere. In my version of PS, it is in the left corner, but in the precedent it was on the right. And press on the “convert to video timeline” icon. Select all layers (Select, Select all Layers or Ctrl+Alt+A) and select all frames. Now that your gif is colored, cropped and resized, only the sharpening remain! If you have an action then use it and skip these couple of steps. I am using 245/500 most of the time, 268 occasionally, like now ^^ ). Change your width as you want (245/268 or 500/540, depends on which dimensions you are using. Go to Image, Image Size, or simply press the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+I. I so much wish these dark gifs could die it looks so awful why would anyone make them it looks really bad). I may do a coloring tutorial soon, but what I always use is Curves, Brightness/Conrast, Selective Color. Now add your coloring/PSDs (I never use PSDs, I prefer to make my own adjustments. I like to use the Ratio because it makes the dimensions of the gif proportional. I am used to keep the height at the value of 4. Set the width and the height as you like for your gif - my most used ratios are 6/4, 7/4, 8/4 (which is 2/1), 9/4, 10/4. Select “Fixed Ratio”, and choose your own ratio. I don’t know why, but the Crop tool isn’t handy for me. But I prefer to use the “Rectangular marquee tool”. I am doing it differently from everyone I think, because most select the Crop tool. If you captured every frame, then use 0,06 or 0,07. I usually use either 0,1 or 0,11 seconds. Now, “Select all Frames” by again pressing on these 3 lines. Open the same window once more and click “Reverse Frames” It can take up to a couple of minutes, if you have a lot of frames. Now wait till the frames are all loaded into the Photoshop document. Go to Files, Scripts, Load Files into Stack.īrowse your files, select your frames, press ok to load them in this window, and click ok again. Once it is done, close your video file and open Photoshop (I am using Photoshop CC 2015, but the steps are almost identical in every version). “Storage” is where you want to save the frames in your computer, and “Filename” is, well, the name the captures will be saved as (for me in this example, it would be “CoS car 1” “CoS car 2” and so on). I save the files in PNG format because it preserves the quality better (PNG is a loseless format), but the majority of gifmakers use JPG. Personally I don’t see a big difference between “every frame” and “every 2 frames” in the final gif “every frame” appears to be slightly more fluid, but the other option looks very good as well. ![]() Some Gif Makers capture every frame, but that means the scene you want to gif will be half shorter. These are my settings for capturing frames. Right click and follow these directions, or simply press Ctrl+G (if I recall well in KMPlayer it is the same command). Find the scene you wish to gif, press pause. The commands on PotPlayer are very similar to KMPlayer, it is very easy to get used to it. I found PotPlayer, and I am very happy with it! It opens files other players are unable to, and it never had any bugs. Gif tutorial (very detailed) using PotPlayerĪ couple of months ago, I had to look for an alternative to the KMPlayer because it couldn’t open a certain type of files (also because the last KMPlayer update was really bad). ![]()
